The State of Female Pastors

Some good news from Everyday Christian.com:

Female pastors are far more numerous in mainline Protestant churches than they were a decade ago...Those are the findings of The Barna Group, a Christian research organization. A little more than 600 pastors were surveyed, matching the sample size of an identical study done in 1999. Surveyors found that there are twice as many female senior pastors as a decade ago, jumping from 5 percent to 10 percent.

The article does go on to note, however, that female pastors are not paid as well as male pastors. You can read the entire article here.

Obviously, I don't believe 10 percent is enough, but to have such a large increase in the last 10 years suggests female pastors are gaining the acceptance they deserve.
